With So Many Blogs, Why This One?
The world is full of uncertainty. While it always has been uncertain (I mean, we all came from one single cell - how crazy is that, and that process could have gone umpteen zillion ways) and I believe always will be, to many people, today seems more uncertain than ever. You could wave that away and call it recency bias, which of course might be true. The reality, though, is this is how you feel and that is what matters most. So I am starting this quite public experiment with a goal of intending to help anyone who wants to feel more stable, less uncertain, from time to time.
Who Is This For?
It is for anyone who gains value from reading it. My expertise is advising tech founders and executives on their financial freedom, so many of the topics are likely to be focused there. I am also passionate about diversity in the financial services industry, in expanding the number of women served well by their advisors, in expanding the number of women serving as advisors, and in making our business and society color blind in all things. Our country was founded on holding these truths self-evident.
When Can You Expect a Post?
My goal is to publish weekly. If there is something you want to hear about, let me know.
Who Am I?
I am a financial guide and coach who specializes in IT entrepreneurs and IT executives. This is my 18th year as a self-employed entrepreneur in this business. Our immediate team includes our co-advisor, Angela, who is passionate about women in financial services and women’s financial education; Melissa, who is our financial planning specialist, and; Danielle, who spends her time thinking about how to delight our clients and make our team more efficient. I have tremendous partners and additional teammates at our firm, Journey Strategic Wealth.
In prior lives I:
Spent 14 years as a tech consultant to Fortune 500 companies with a specialty in utility industry distribution construction;
Managed a bar to pay my way through college. I also serviced chicken houses in that period - and I can promise you that is not a fun job;
Was an auto parts truck driver and subsequently a foreign car mechanic upon high school graduation. I started college when I was 24.
I am most definitely ADHD. Thank goodness for medication, a proper diagnosis, and folks who take the time to provide coaching and tools for those with an ADHD brain.
My lovely spouse, Natalie, has been on this journey for 38 years with me. I am most fortunate and am equally graced with the amazing Aaron, our son.
